THE Sigil ORACLE CARD || THE MODERN GODDESS ORACLE DECK

Detach from the outcome.

Sigils are images or symbols that represent magical intentions or spells. Traditionally, a sigil works best when you’ve forgotten what it means. Though your conscious mind has no clue what your intention is, your subconscious remembers it clearly. Your conscious mind is usually the culprit if you’re feeling any resistance around a particular goal. Using a sigil takes the conscious mind out of the picture and relies almost exclusively on your powerful, wise subconscious mind.

If the Sigil card shows up in your spread, it is a call to detach from the outcome. Yes, I know, Goddess! You really want it! But that burning desire might be the very thing keeping your goal just out of reach.

Spend some time meditating on what you want if that helps you stay focused, but once the meditation is over, release that desire for the rest of the day. Obsessing over how your desire will manifest is not a good use of your energy right now.

If you’re set on something happening a certain way, ask yourself why. It’s OK to get really specific with your desires, but make sure you’re not limiting the way the universe can deliver your order!

Don’t forget about the wonderful experiences you can enjoy in the here and now. Don’t get stuck replaying your daydreams over and over.

If you’ve clearly sent your intention up to the universe, the Sigil card is a sign that you’ve been heard. The moment you forget about it, it’s going to appear out of nowhere.

Practical Magic for the Modern Goddess

Manifesting is similar to creating an online wishlist or wedding registry. You pick things you want, then you let people buy you things. Think of the universe as your eccentric rich uncle who decides to surprise you by buying up your whole wish list and then some!

Sigils are a wonderfully simple form of magic, and all you need is a pen and paper to get started. These powerful symbols are meant to be created by the person performing the magic. It might be tempting to find one on the internet, but for the best results, draw it yourself.

To do this, think of a word that represents your desire and write it down.

Play with ways to combine the letters together to create a shape that “feels” magical to you. Once you come up with a final design, draw your sigil on a rock or piece of paper (anywhere, really) and place the sigil on your altar or on your windowsill. Wait a week or two until you can’t remember exactly what that sigil meant. It helps to create a few sigils so you’re less likely to remember the meaning of each one. When you’re ready to activate your sigil, go outside under the moon and meditate on your sigil.
