THE lammas ORACLE CARD || THE MODERN GODDESS ORACLE DECK

Practice gratitude.

Lammas, observed on August 1st, is the first of three harvest-themed celebrations. It’s a day for showing gratitude for all you’ve been able to grow and accomplish so far for that year. This sabbat also holds the energy of anticipation for more harvests in the near future.

The appearance of the Lammas card means you’re gaining traction in certain areas of your life. Enjoy the momentum and the mini goals you’re totally crushing, but don’t get cocky. You didn’t do all of this yourself. Your accomplishments came from harnessing the energy of the universe and combining that with your own powerful intentions.

And remember, things can change quickly, Goddess. That empire you’ve built isn’t impenetrable. Shake-ups happen all the time. That doesn’t mean you need to live in a fearful scarcity mindset. Not at all! In fact, it’s beneficial at this time to look for ways you can give back and give generously.

The Lammas card is a reminder to thank the people around you who have helped you. Look for ways you can show your love and appreciation and enjoy the joy that comes along with a spirit of giving.

If you’re in a relationship that feels “blah,” go out of your way to show him or her your gratitude. If you’re enjoying a career-related breakthrough, make sure to give credit to your co-workers and mentors who helped you.

Practical Magic for the Modern Goddess

Traditionally, Lammas celebrates the harvest of grain, so you can celebrate this special day by making a loaf of bread—from scratch if you’re brave enough! Get out the cookbook or see if you have any delicious family recipes you’ve been meaning to try. Enjoy the loaf of bread with your friends! Serve it on a cheese board with a bountiful assortment of dried fruit, nuts, and cheese.

If it’s apple season in your area, go apple picking! For a manifesting spell, carve a sigil, symbol, word, or affirmation that represents something you’re focusing on manifesting this season into the skin of the apple. Bury the apple in the earth. That evening, light a candle that is the same color as your apple and visualize your desire as the candle burns down. You can match the color of the apple to your intention as well. Red for love or power. Pink for self-love and unconditional love. Green for money and creativity magic.
